2024 Summer Camp Registration is Open!
From afterschool opportunities and single-day activities at Camp Hale to overnight wilderness trips in the White River National Forest, your child will develop an appreciation for our very own backyard as they learn to navigate and conquer the great outdoors. Each camp is designed to help build necessary skills and knowledge of the outdoors for kids to safely and properly recreate on their own.

We’re excited to offer multi-adventure day camps for younger kiddos to explore our own backyard. Participants will be exposed to a variety of activities that may include hiking, indoor rock climbing, art in nature, archery, and more. Activities vary per week and are dependent on weather and conditions. Due to the popularity of this camp, please consider limiting your registrations to one or two weeks so everyone has the chance to enjoy Backyard Adventure Camp!

Participants will be exposed to a variety of high adventure activities that may include hiking, outdoor rock climbing, stand-up paddle boarding, mountain biking, and testing their skills on the team-building course at Maloit Park. Activities vary per week and are dependent on weather and conditions. Due to the popularity of this camp, please consider limiting your registrations to one or two weeks so everyone has the chance to enjoy Backyard Explorers Camp!

Intro to Rock Climbing
Session One: Jun 12-14 (Edwards) – FULL
Session Two: Jul 31-Aug 2 (Gypsum)Learn the basics of rock climbing and have fun in this Mountain Recreation climbing camp. This camp will introduce and teach standard rock-climbing techniques such as knots, belaying, and the correct way to move over rock. After two days of introduction at one of the Mountain Recreation indoor climbing walls, youth will put their skills to the test for a full day adventure with ATGI Guides on real rock at various top rope climbing sites in the Camp Hale area.

Outdoor Rock Climbing
Session One: Jul 10-12 (Edwards) – FULL
Session Two: Aug 7-9 (Gypsum)Learn to make your way confidently up the famous rock faces of Camp Hale! This Mountain Recreation climbing camp is a great introduction to outdoor rock climbing. This camp will review and reinforce standard rock climbing techniques such as knots, belaying, and the correct way to move over rock. After a day of review at one of the Mountain Recreation indoor climbing walls, youth will put their skills to the test with ATGI Guides on real rock at various top rope climbing sites in the Camp Hale area the following two days of camp.

This is a multi-day overnight camp! Looking for some time to connect with others, unwind in nature, and have fun learning new skills? On this 4-day, 3-night adventure, participants will learn how to pack for a wilderness trip, safely set up and pack up camp, cook in the outdoors, and how to navigate and travel in the backcountry. Camping and backpacking gear is provided or you can bring your own!

On this 3-day adventure, campers will begin to learn backcountry travel and camping skills all while enjoying the rewards of hiking and the thrills of rock climbing. Each day young explorers will learn the skills they need to move across the landscape, find their way, and sleep in safety. From the basics of camp setup to outdoor cooking to teambuilding to playing in wilderness to building friendships, this multi-day course allows youth to become pioneers in their pursuits as outdoor enthusiasts.
