I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a bachelors in Sports and Exercise Science. I have been training and teaching fitness classes since 2016. My goal is to help others enjoy moving and working out as much as I do. I love seeing what the body is capable of and building strength to make day to day activities easier.

COMMUNITY REVIEW:
“I have trained with Shila for over 3 years.  She spent time teaching me how to work out and built up my confidence so I could work out by myself. My core strength continues to become stronger along with all my muscles. As I get older it is more and more important to keep my muscles strong. I train at the rec center usually 5 days a week.  It is my second home. Everyone is so kind and I always have a smile on when I am there. I would recommend Shila for training you. She is super knowledgeable and good at what she does. She is a good listener and very kind. I am very blessed to get to work out with Shila." -Karen

I have lived in Gypsum since 2006. I enjoy the Colorado lifestyle with my husband Chad, three boys Jaxon, Wyatt, and Walker, and our two golden retrievers. I have taught exercise classes at the Rec Center since the facility opened. Having 3 active boys keeps me busy. Exercise is my outlet for creating balance with our busy schedules. My philosophy with finding routines would be to keep it motivating by setting short and long-term goals while always trying something new to challenge yourself with.  I enjoy teaching my classes at Mountain Rec. My classes are designed for all ability levels. When walking into my SPIN class you will be motivated to push your limits, encourage your neighbors, and have fun while not taking it too seriously. I look forward to seeing some new faces in SPIN class!

Aside from the great workout and fun, it also provides me with a much better understanding of what others are experiencing so I can better tailor the workouts to their needs and abilities. Outside of the rec center and in play mode, a few of my passions are running, skiing, mountain biking and fishing with friends and family.

Lydia Widhalm
FURY Instructor
I might be a familiar face to many since I was born and raised in this valley! I left briefly to earn my B.S in Health and Exercise Science at CSU. I was active in sports in high school but the real beginning of my fitness journey began by actually taking Fury classes as a way of training for cross-country. I've been hooked on Fury ever since -- graduated from not only taking the class to teaching it as well! My areas of expertise lie in cardio, calisthenics and free-weights, with a growing knowledge in Olympic weightlifting. When I'm not social butterflying my way around the rec, you can catch me enjoying the great outdoors by horseback riding, hiking Colorado's great 14ers, or taking a rest day and curling up with a good book.
