The Gypsum Rec Center offers a variety of fitness classes for people of all ages and abilities. Class schedules are released on a monthly basis. Don’t forget, fitness classes are now included with your membership! Non-members cost is $10 per class.

    We want you to reach your goals! With the right trainer, you leave the impossible behind. Set your goals, then set your sights on results and living your version of healthy and happy! All of our personal trainers are certified professionals with extensive backgrounds in the fitness industry.

    • 1 Session: $55 members/$65 non-members
    • 4 Sessions: $200 members/$240 non-members

Class Descriptions

  • Spin Classes

    The best low-impact cardio workout you can get inside. Indoor Cycling is easy on the joints and keeps the heart rate consistently elevated to improve fitness. Classes are varied and can accommodate all levels, you’re in control.

    Class types:

    • Strength – Many hills and jumps.
    • Endurance – Gets your heart rate up and down and uses a little bit of strength and fusion.
    • Fusion – Total body workout incorporating the use of indoor cycling, and weights. Looking to burn loads of calories in less than an hour, and get the muscle development you want? This is the class for you!
  • Fury

    This high intensity, interval training class, is guaranteed to jumpstart your path to achieving your fitness goals! Interval training can supercharge your fitness, boost your metabolism, and burn off extra fat

  • Yoga/Gentle Yoga

    Good for the mind, body and soul, this stress-reliever will help you gain improved body awareness and flexibility through the yoga tradition. Take the class to tone your muscles or as a compliment to your normal exercise routine.

  • Yoga for Athletes

    Yoga is an ideal activity for all types of athletes. A regular yoga practice will give you improved balance, core strength, overall power, flexibility, range of motion, and mental focus. Our athletic based vinyasa yoga classes will have you moving, breathing and sweating while building strength inside and out.

  • Total Balance

    A blend of yoga, core exercises and other proven techniques to improve your balance.

  • Water Aerobics

    Exercising in the water is a challenging, yet fun workout that is easy on the joints! Come and let use the resistance of the water and power to your cardio workout!

  • Fit After 50

    Join fellow baby boomers in this class that focuses on a fun, invigorating workout that will help you maintain an active and healthy lifestyle.

  • Zumba

    Zumba® combines Latin and International music with a fun and effective workout system which involves dance and aerobic elements. Zumba’s choreography incorporates hip-hop, soca, samba, salsa, merengue, mambo and martial arts.

  • Zumba Gold

    Active older adults who are looking for a modified Zumba® class that recreates the original moves you love at a lower-intensity. Class focuses on all elements of fitness: cardiovascular, muscular conditioning, flexibility and balance!

  • Pound

    A combination cardio and strength class with “constant simulated drumming.” Yes, as in with drum sticks. 45 Minutes of fun!

  • HIIT Training

    HIIT class is a total body, heart pumping, aerobic and strength conditioning workout. This interval-based class combines full-body strength training with high intensity cardio bursts designed to tone your body, improve your endurance, and clear your mind.

  • Intuitive Fitness

    A revolutionary form of exercise designed with gradual progressions and movements to suit your individual needs. Through high-intensity, low-impact workouts you will raise your heart rate and boost your metabolism to tone strong and lean muscle, while developing your flexibility and mobility. In this class you will focus on executing movements with proper form and alignment, to minimize your chances of injury.

  • Heart Smart

    This class, featuring light cardio and chair exercises, is designed specifically for seniors.

  • H20 Boot Camp

    This is a high intensity, fast paced class that is low impact. It is great for athletes that are recovering from surgery, pregnant woman, or anybody looking to go easy on their joints.

  • TRX

    Born in the Navy SEALs, TRX Suspension Training Bodyweight Exercise develops strength, balance, flexibility, and core stability simultaneously. It requires the use of the TRX Suspension Trainer, a highly portable performance training tool that leverages gravity and the user’s body weight to complete 100’s of exercises.

  • Beginning Tai Chi / Intro to Soft Movement

    A practice of honoring yourself, your body and what it needs. We explore balance, comfort, agility, ease, efficiency, and movement that is natural and optimal. This class is both restorative and stimulating. We explore body alignment and keeping centered in stillness and in motion. This is a martial art as well as a self-care practice; both calming & powerful. The intent is to nourish and nurture the body, mind, and spirit. Students will learn to move using energy and breath, not only with muscles & strength. This is a practice of longevity. All levels welcome. Yang Style Tai Chi.

  • Form Practice Tai Chi

    This 30-minute class gives you a chance to tighten up your form.

  • Find Your Strength

    Refresh your workout routine! We will dig deep to push ourselves mentally and physically. There is always a modification for every exercise we do. This class features fun, strength-based cardio no matter where you are on your exercise journey!

  • Foam Roll & Release

    In this 45-minute class you will use foam rollers & tennis/lacrosse balls to perform a self-massage or myofascial release. Your muscles and tendons will feel stretched, you will break up trigger points, soothe tight fascia and increase blood flow and circulation. You will also improve your balance and stability, strengthen your core muscles and total body function as you move and stabilize on the roller.

  • Meditation

    Meditation is a mind and body practice of calm awareness. These practices will help you clear blocks, amplify your power, and bring more peace to your world. Whether you have an established practice or you’re a total beginner, you can experience amazing results
