Summer has arrived, and that means it’s time to enjoy sunny days, cool water, and all the fun our outdoor pools have to offer. As we celebrate Water Safety Month this June, we would like to remind everyone that water safety is a shared responsibility. Whether you’re visiting for open swim, swim lessons, lap swimming, or a special event, following a few simple safety practices can help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Safety Starts with Following Pool Rules

Pool rules are in place to create a safe environment for all guests. Our trained lifeguards work hard to monitor the pool and respond to emergencies, but guests play an important role in maintaining safety as well.

When visiting our outdoor pools, please remember to:

  • Walk on the pool deck at all times.
  • Listen to and follow lifeguard instructions.
  • Swim in areas appropriate for your age and ability level.
  • Follow all posted facility rules and safety guidelines.
  • Report unsafe behavior or concerns to pool staff.

These simple actions help prevent accidents and allow everyone to enjoy their time at the pool.

Lifeguards Are Here to Help

Our certified lifeguards are trained in water rescue, first aid, and emergency response. They are constantly scanning the water to help keep swimmers safe.

While lifeguards provide an important layer of protection, parents and guardians should remember that lifeguards are not babysitters. Active supervision remains one of the most important ways to prevent water-related accidents.

Always Stay with a Trusted Adult

Children should never be left unattended near water. Parents and guardians should maintain constant supervision and remain focused on their children while visiting the pool.

For younger swimmers, we recommend:

  • Staying within arm’s reach whenever they are in or near the water.
  • Establishing clear pool safety expectations before entering the facility.
  • Taking regular breaks to check in and regroup.
  • Identifying a meeting location in case family members become separated.

A trusted adult’s attention can make all the difference in keeping children safe around water.

Learn to Swim

One of the best ways to stay safe around water is to develop strong swimming skills. Swim lessons help participants build confidence, improve water competency, and learn essential safety techniques. We offer swim lesson opportunities year round for a variety of ages and skill levels. Learning to swim is a lifelong skill that can help reduce the risk of drowning and increase confidence in and around the water.

Stay Hydrated and Sun Safe

Many people don’t realize how quickly dehydration can occur during a day at the pool. Swimming, playing, and spending time in the sun can all increase the body’s need for water.

Before and during your visit:

  • Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
  • Bring a reusable water bottle.
  • Pack healthy snacks to stay energized.
  • Apply sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher before arriving.
  • Reapply sunscreen every two hours and after swimming.
  • Take breaks in shaded areas when possible.

Staying hydrated and protected from the sun helps ensure a more enjoyable day for everyone.
