Since launching the Master Plan and Feasibility Study in early March, Mountain Recreation has been meeting with residents and leaders across western Eagle County. Community input is central to this process, and we appreciate the time people have taken to share ideas, concerns and goals for the future of recreation.

Our staff and consultants have met with stakeholder groups and community partners, including Eagle County and the towns of Gypsum and Eagle. We have also gathered feedback at locations such as carnicerías and the Community Market in Edwards and Gypsum, as well as through conversations with families and students at elementary, middle and high schools.

These conversations help bring forward the perspectives of residents of all ages and backgrounds.

Where We’ve Been
So far, the planning team has gathered input through:

  • Meetings with Eagle County Administration, the towns of Gypsum and Eagle, Eagle County Public Health and Environment and the Town of Avon Health and Public Safety Committee
  • Conversations with organizations, including Golden Eagle Seniors, My Future Pathways and The Cycle Effect
  • Community Markets in Edwards and Gypsum
  • Conversations with families at elementary schools
  • Outreach with middle school students and parents
  • Engagement with high school students and youth events
  • Informal conversations with community members across the district and at Mountain Recreation facilities

Input has also been shared through the online Ideas Wall, interactive map, surveys and in-person conversations. As the process moves forward, the project team will review this feedback alongside data on current programs, facilities and participation trends.

Share Your Ideas
We want to hear from you. Share your thoughts through the online Ideas Wall, the interactive map or a short five-question survey. Click here for information.

If you or your organization would like to schedule a one-on-one conversation, please contact Jamie Wilson, Marketing and Community Engagement Manager at Mountain Recreation.

What’s Next?

This work will continue in the coming months as the project team reviews community feedback, participation trends and facility needs. Over the summer, draft recommendations will begin to take shape and will be shared with district leadership and the community for input. The final Master Plan and Feasibility Study is expected later this fall.

Until then, we will continue to listen, learn and gather ideas from across western Eagle County. Thank you for being part of this process.
