The Gypsum Rec Center has something for everyone to live their version of healthy and happy!

This facility isn’t just a rec center – it’s a community center, a hub of activity for generations coming together for health and social activities. You’re free to explore the fitness floor with state-of-the-art cardio and strength equipment, jump into group exercise in three fitness classrooms, walk and talk around the indoor track, plunge into new friendships in the 10,000 sq ft aquatics area with 25 yard swimming lanes, rejuvenate yourself in the hot tub and steam room,  enjoy a little friendly competition in the gymnasium, and even let your little one meet new friends at Child Watch.

Aquatic Rules

  • Pool Rules
    1. Always follow the directions of the lifeguard. Aquatic staff reserve the right to enforce and/or modify rules as needed
    2. Bather Load: 90 persons
    3. The pool shall only be open for use if there are Mountain Rec lifeguards stationed at the pool
    4. Patrons must shower before entering the pool
    5. Any person with diarrhea, a communicable illness, or open wounds/sores is not permitted to enter the pool
    6. DO NOT drink the pool water
    7. Use of any drugs, alcohol, or tobacco/smoking products is strictly prohibited. Any person determined to be under the influence will be kindly asked to leave the facility
    8. Food, drink, and glass are not permitted within the pool area
    9. Proper swimwear is required to use the pool. Swim diapers are required for those who are not toilet trained
    10. Children under the height of 48″ or 4 feet must always be within an arms reach of a supervising adult unless they have passed a Mountain Rec swim test
    11. Children under the height of 48″ or 4 feet must be supervised by someone who is at least 14 years of age.

      a. Three or more children must be accompanied by someone who is at least 16 years of age

    12. Diving and head first entries are strictly prohibited
    13. No prolonged breath-holding exercises or games
    14. Use of toys, flotation devices, or Mountain Rec equipment are only permitted at the discretion of pool staff
    15. Changing clothes or diapers on the pool deck is strictly prohibited
    16. Flotation devices must be approved by the U.S. Coast Guard. The use of any inflatable pool toys is strictly prohibited
    17. No running on the pool deck
    18. Excessive PDA will not be tolerated
    19. No dunking or horse play
    20. Taking any pictures or videos is strictly prohibited
    21. Any surfaces covered in white tile are strictly off-limits
    22. Kick boards must remain in the lap lanes
  • Hot Tub Rules
    1. Bather load: 12 persons
    2. For health and safety, children under the age of 5 are not permitted in the hot tub
    3. Children ages 5-13 must be accompanied by an adult who is in the water
    4. You must be 14 years of age to use the hot tub unsupervised
    5. Elderly persons, persons with heart conditions, and pregnant women should consult their physician before using the hot tub
    6. Toys and flotation devices are strictly prohibited in the hot tub
    7. Excessive PDA will not be tolerated
    8. Splashing and playing around in the hot tub is strictly prohibited
  • Slide Rules
    1. Listen to and follow the instructions of the dispatcher
    2. Climbing up the slide is strictly prohibited
    3. You must go down the slide feet first
    4. Clear the exit area immediately after exiting the slide
    5. One person is allowed to go down the slide at a time
    6. You must use the slide sitting down and facing forward
