Seeking Pro & Con Statements on Proposed Mill Levy Increase
GYPSUM— Mountain Recreation Metropolitan District is asking registered voters within the District to send in statements for and against the proposed tax increase that will be on the November 2nd ballot.
The ballot question will ask voters to approve an increase in the district’s property tax mill rate to fund District operations and maintenance costs and fund the all access rec program including:
- Renovation and expansion of recreation facilities in Edwards, Eagle, and Gypsum to provide new recreation spaces, equipment, and programs and community health and wellbeing services for children, teens, adults, families, and seniors;
- Year-round access through updated and new community spaces, behavioral health programs, local nonprofit services, and social activities; and
- Improvements to trailhead, swimming, and recreational facilities to provide more access for active outdoor recreation, summer camps, and youth and adult recreation programs.
The District will summarize the comments and send them to voters before the election, as required by law. The deadline for submissions is Friday, September 17, 2021 by noon (MST).
