Active Aging Week

    Get the facts and expert advice from SHIP and Vintage Services for Aging. Jonnah Glassman local Medicare State Health Insurance Program Coordinator will cover the basics, compare plans and answer questions to prepare you for open enrollment October 15- November 7.

  • Seated & Strong, Chair FitnessFriday, Oct 10 | 12:00–1:00 PM

    Seated and strong is a fun, supportive class designed for seniors to build strength, improve balance, and boost energy through safe, effective resistance training. Using light dumbbells with options for seated exercises, participants will enhance mobility, coordination, and cardiovascular health while moving at their own pace. Perfect for all fitness levels, this class promotes independence, confidence, and lifelong wellness.

2025 Clinics & Workshops

  • Nature Walk; Gypsum PondsOct 23 (1-2:30 p.m.) | Gypsum

    Join us for a relaxing and educational nature walk, where we’ll explore local natural areas and learn about the plants and ecosystems that surround us. Led by Denyse Schrenker, Horticulture & Natural Resource Specialist, this leisurely walk is perfect for anyone curious about the outdoors, regardless of experience level.

    Participants are welcome to meet us at the Gypsum Ponds, or, if you’d like a ride, please request transportation by emailing mclarkepostle@mountainrec.org after you sign up.

    A limited-space van will depart from in front of the Rec Center at 12:45 PM, so please plan to arrive a bit early if you’ll be riding with us.

    We appreciate you registering in advance so we can get an accurate headcount and coordinate transportation as needed.

    Come enjoy fresh air, gentle exercise, and a deeper connection with nature!

  • Beginner Pickleball ClinicNov 7 & 8 | Gypsum

    Interested in learning how to play pickleball? Join us on Friday, November 7 and Saturday, November 8 for a two-day pickleball clinic! This session will meet from 6pm-7:30pm on Friday November 7 and 10am-11:30am on Saturday November 8 at the Gypsum Recreation Center. November 7 will be an instructional session on pickleball, while November 8 will consist of play/practice with help from our instructors. The clinic will be led by Robin and Jerry Santoro. This session is $100 per person. This clinic is for ages 18+.

    To get signed up for your membership, please call your insurance company to receive your Fitness ID number. Bring that number to the front desk at the Gypsum Recreation Center, and we will activate your membership! All memberships include access to the fitness floor, pool, sport court, climbing wall, and fitness classes.

Gypsum Rec Center Fitness Classes

  • Tai Chi Fit

    Tai Chi Fit improves balance, develops better body mechanics for everyday life, increases energy, and increases stamina. The classes begin with a warm up and continues  through Qigong exercises followed by several movements that are inspired by Yang style Tai Chi.

  • Water Aerobics

    Exercising in the water is a challenging, yet fun workout that is easy on the joints! Come and let use the resistance of the water and power to your cardio workout!

  • Yoga / Gentle Yoga

    Good for the mind, body and soul, this stress-reliever will help you gain improved body awareness and flexibility through the yoga tradition. Take the class to tone your muscles or as a compliment to your normal exercise routine.

  • Zumba

    Zumba® combines Latin and international music with a fun and effective workout system which involves dance and aerobic elements. Zumba’s choreography incorporates hip-hop, soca, samba, salsa, merengue, mambo and martial arts.
