Our 2024 Board of Directors Spotlight Award Winner is…

Please help us congratulate Becky Johnson, the recipient of the 2024 Board of Directors Spotlight Award! Since joining the district in 2012, Becky has been instrumental in building our gymnastics program, providing a safe and healthy outlet for kids across the community.

As the Gymnastics Supervisor, Becky oversees an impressive range of programs, including session-based gymnastics classes, the Anti-Gravity Center, Ascent Team, summer and out-of-school-time camps, and aerial programming across both Gypsum and Edwards. Through her tireless efforts and dedication to quality programming, she has grown her department into a cornerstone of Mountain Recreation.

Despite challenges like staff shortages, Becky has consistently shown reliability, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to her team and the community. Operating one of the largest areas in our programs division, Becky’s leadership has resulted in remarkable achievements. She is a friend and coworker who truly cares about others and will go out of her way to help however she can, even if that means more time away from her family, to ensure that our community and her team have a safe space, a place to come together, and a place to grow. She is a worker bee in the background, often not seen, but her presence is felt and needed, and without her, things would fall apart.

Becky works hard to build true comradery and community through the sport of gymnastics.  Becky is proving that small mountain communities can not only produce top-notch athletes and compete on the regional stage but that she can also produce kind, well-rounded, hard-working, strong leaders, and role models for life.  And as the saying goes, “It takes one to know one.”

Mountain Recreation is incredibly fortunate to have someone like Becky, whose passion and perseverance continue to uplift our organization and community. Please join us in recognizing her incredible contributions and celebrating this well-deserved honor!
