In 2023, Mountain Recreation surveyed the Edwards Area through an online community survey. The District wanted to understand how to best meet community needs through amenity improvements at the Edwards Field House, and we heard you! The survey results were used to develop plans for renovation.

The survey results and programing demands have made the court space the top priority in this renovation.

Edwards Field House

Mountain Recreation is thrilled to invite community members to an Open House showcasing the design concept for the Edwards Field House Renovations that will be implemented over three phases.

Join us on Tuesday, December 10, from 5:30pm-7pm at the Edwards Field House to preview the plans, which include an expanded sport court, re-organization of the trampoline center and climbing wall/tower, and more.

This Open House offers our community a chance to dive into the vision, design, and scope of the project while providing an open forum to ask questions and share feedback.

Where are the funds to pay for these changes coming from?
First and foremost, this is not a tax increase. Between existing funds in Mountain Rec’s reserves and the increase in property tax revenue in 2024, the funds will be available to accomplish some small-scale yet important amenity improvements.

What amenities are we talking about and where did they come from?
In 2023, we conducted a District-wide survey focused on what amenities, if any, would the community like to see at the Edwards Field House. The most popular amenity improvements from that survey are the ones we’ve listed below.

    • Court space (Hardwood floors for volleyball, basketball, and pickleball)
    • Fitness center
    • Group exercise
    • Climbing
    • Walking track
    • Locker rooms
    • Social spaces

What about a pool or an ice rink…?
Because we have limited funds and space limitations, we can’t do large-scale projects like the ones listed below.  We wish we could and unfortunately those aren’t possible within the footprint of land we have access to.

    • Indoor pool ($9-$12M)
    • Indoor tennis ($4-$5M)
    • Indoor ice rink ($4-$10M)
    • Additional turf field ($500k-$4M)

Can you use the field in the parking lot to expand?
Unfortunately, we don’t own that land so we can’t use it or build on it.  The land belongs to Eagle County, and they are currently building on that space.

Is all of this being done in one project?
The project will be done in three phases over a 4-5 year time frame. Provided there is funding for each phase, the estimated timeline and cost estimates are listed below.

    Phase 1 (Fall 2025 – Estimated Cost $1,199,100)

    1. Court space (Hardwood floors for 2 volleyball, 2 basketball, and 4 pickleball courts with a divider curtain)
