A new program initiative launched in November 2018! These programs are designed to provide you with opportunities to recreate on public lands. We are still building out the programs for this new initiative so stay tuned!

Outdoor Rec Programs

  • Family Camping Night @Maloit Park

    3pm on 6/29 – 10:30am on 6/30.

    Maloit Park, Minturn

    $25/family up to 4 members. $5 each additional person (over the age of 3)

    Mountain Recreation is excited to team up with the Eagle Valley Outdoor Movement (EVOM) to host a family camping night on Saturday, June 29 at Maloit Park in Minturn.  This event is open to all families and all ages – those that have never camped, those that are experienced campers, families that are small, families that are large, friends that are families and everyone in between.  No gear? No problem, we have tents, sleeping pads and sleeping bags available to borrow. (and we will even show you how to set everything up!) Optional activities included such as an evening hike and challenge course at Maloit Park.

    Huge thanks to Eagle County Schools for making this event at Maloit Park possible.  Please leave your fury friends and alcohol at home.

    Limited spots available.  Please register in advance and please let us know when registering if you need to borrow camping gear!

    Basic dinner and breakfast are included. Bring your own snacks. If you have special likes or dietary requirements, please bring your own food. (We will have one stovetop available for folks to use to cook their own food.)  Families will be encouraged to participate in the cooking and serving of communal food!

  • Eagle River Park Whitewater Throwdown

    Join us on Tuesdays from June 11-July 9th for the inaugural Eagle River Park Whitewater Throwdown series at the brand new park.

    The downriver racing will consist of 3 categories; Team Raft, Kayak, and SUP. The course will start at Chambers Park, run through the new Eagle River Park and finish at the Fairgrounds Boat Ramp. The course is approximately .6 miles long and includes natural and man-made rapids.

    Freestyle kayaking and surf competitions will be help on features 1-4 of the River Park. With 4 features available, athletes can choose the wave that fits their style best.

    Hang out after the race for awards and prizes with a cold beer from Bonfire Brewing.
