- Edwards Belay ClinicsTuesdays, 6:30pm-8pm
This 1.5 hour clinic will give you basic information and opportunities to practice belaying, and will provide you the knowledge needed to pass Mountain Recreation’s top rope belay test. In this clinic you will learn climbing knots, harness use, hardware use, belaying technique, climbing communication, how to catch a fall, and how to lower a climber. This class will take place at either the Edwards Field House or Gypsum Recreation Center’s climbing tower, so come ready to climb.

The Vail Valley Mountain Trail Alliance (VVMTA)’s Soul Dirt is proud to partner with Mountain Recreation to bring you a multi-day mountain bike skills and trail stewardship clinics for beginner to intermediate riders. Soul Dirt encourages building riding skills and community through sustainable recreation. While out on the trail, Soul Dirt provides an opportunity for participants in our community to connect, volunteer, and develop a sense of stewardship for our trails and public lands.
Participants will learn bike riding techniques and trail maintenance principles over sessions one and two, with an optional third session to ride more and apply what you have learned! Mountain bikes and helmets are available to borrow for the program, however, please bring your own equipment if you are able.Dates: June 14, 21, 28

Mountain Recreation is proud to partner with the Vail Valley Mountain Trail Alliance (VVMTA)’s Soul Dirt to bring you ladies-only multi-day mountain bike skills and trail stewardship clinics for beginner – intermediate adult riders. Soul Dirt encourages building riding skills and community through sustainable recreation. While out on the trail, Soul Dirt provides an opportunity for participants in our community to connect, volunteer, and develop a sense of stewardship for our trails and public lands.

Location: Haymaker Trailhead/Eagle Pool and Ice Rink - Kayaking Clinics: Community Kayaking Club with Zealous June 9 and August 5
In partnership with Zealous Schools, Mountain Recreation is excited to offer a unique opportunity for new and experienced boaters alike to practice essential skills and build community! Whether you’re dusting off your paddle for the season or picking one up for the first time, qualified instructors and youth leaders from Zealous will be available to assist you in developing essential skills needed to safely recreate in a kayak. These events will also be a great opportunity to meet other boaters to get out on the river with. This community focused program is great for newer kayakers looking to learn to roll and paddle, as well as experienced paddlers who would like to meet other boaters and practice skills before hitting the river this season!
It is encouraged you bring your own boat/paddling gear, Zealous has some loaner equipment available but it is primarily youth-sized. Mountain Recreation will have some PFD’s available for participants to borrow.

- One-Day Fly Fishing Crash CourseJune 18 and July 30
Join Trout Trickers guides this summer to learn how to cast, reel, and net fish in our own backyard! Mountain Recreation fly-fishing clinics are offered in partnership with Trout Trickers and are a great introduction to the world of fly-fishing. This 1-day clinic will introduce and teach basic fly-fishing concepts such as choosing flies, casting technique, and fly-fishing etiquette. After this clinic, participants will have the rudimentary knowledge and skills to be able to obtain a fishing license and get out on the water with a guide.
*Fishing license is not required to participate.

Join us for a Community Climbing Night, where there’s something fun for everyone!
- Are you looking to practice your belay skills before you sign up for a belay clinic/test? Trained volunteers will be available to help you practice your belay technique.
- Do you have a young climber who needs to get their wiggles out? We have belay tested volunteers who can belay your kiddo or teach you how to belay them.
- Want to meet other climbers and perhaps spark a new belay-tionship? Sign-up for a Community Climbing Night in Edwards or Gypsum and come ready to climb!
Our climbing facilities offer opportunities for climbers to boulder, get on ropes, or ascend our climbing towers via an auto-belay. These weekly events are designed to build an inclusive and inviting climbing community for everyone.

Join Mountain Recreation and EVOM partners for the 2022 Family Campout, June 24-25th at Sylvan Lake State Park near Eagle, CO. This event is an introductory, hands-on camping experience for EVOM and Mountain Recreation families. We will focus on basic camping techniques, provide fun activities for the whole family, and connect with one another while connecting with the outdoors! Activities may include guided hikes, archery, nature story time, and more. Mountain Recreation will provide dinner on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday morning, as well as overnight camping equipment (tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, etc.), and staff to help families make the most of their camping experience.

Únase a los socios de Mountain Recreation y EVOM para el Campamento Familiar del 2022, el 24 y 25 de junio en el Sylvan Lake State Park cerca de Eagle, CO.
