Get outside, meet your neighbors, and explore this beautiful place we call home!  Unless otherwise noted, all hikes and snowshoes are free.

With COVID in mind we ask that all participants wear a mask during the duration of the program. We plan to hike regardless of the weather so please come dressed accordingly.  Please bring:

  • Headlamp or flashlight
  • Warm clothes with several layers
  • Your own water, snacks, and face mask

Outdoor Rec Programs

  • 2020-2021 Hiking/Snowshoe Series

    Join us as we hit the trails this winter and explore the natural beauty of Eagle County.  These hikes/snowshoes are open to all ages and are free to attend.  Please RSVP so we know how many people to expect, so we can keep to COVID-related restrictions, and so we can have enough snowshoes for everyone.

    November 27 (9am-11am)
    Salt Creek area of Brush Creek Valley Ranch & Open Space

    Join us for a fun family 2 mile hike as we explore the Salt Creek area of Brush Creek Valley Ranch & Open Space for a post-Thanksgiving hike.

    We will all gather in the parking lot (directions below) and leave as a group. Please come dressed for the weather and bring your own water and snacks.  We will have snowshoes available if there’s snow.

    December 21 (6pm-8pm)
    Winter Solstice at Boneyard

    We will meet in the parking area (directions below) and leave as a group. Please come dressed for the weather and bring your own water, snacks, and facemask. If conditions warrant, we will have snowshoes available to borrow. Please bring a working headlamp or flashlight!

    There are no bathrooms at the trailhead.

    We will be meeting at the Mill Road parking area at 75 Mill Road.

    Directions: I70 to 147 (Eagle). Turn left on Eby Creek Road. At the traffic circle, take the second exit onto Church Street. Turn left on Second Street, left on Mill Road. The parking area is on the right.

    January 1 (12pm-2pm)
    Sylvan Lake State Park

    We will all gather in the parking area by the lake. Please come dressed for the weather and bring your own water, snacks, and facemask.

    Post-hike, we’ll enjoy hot cocoa (possibly with marshmallows) and cookies–all served in a COVID-safe manner.

    There is a $7 entrance fee for cars into Sylvan Lake State Park.  Participants who pre-register for this event will be given a parking voucher upon arrival. The voucher needs to be placed on the dash of the car.
